Korčula Island, Čara, stone house in the center of the village

An old stone house located in the heart of the island of Korčula, whose complete renovation has restored its former glory. It is situated in the center of Čara along the main road, and the entire house offers views of the Čara field, surrounding pine-covered hills, and the sea. The house was originally built 170 years ago, and the current owner completely renovated it in 2015.

The property consists of four units: the stone house itself, which on the ground floor has a space originally intended as a tavern-winery, two floors above the tavern designed for living, a new apartment in the house annex, and a garden.

The entrance to the house is on the second floor, accessed from the north side away from the road. The space has a large volume, with a ceiling height of about 6 meters, making it suitable for use as a restaurant or a small winery.

Next to the house, in the annex, there is an additional building with a storage room on the ground floor and a finished apartment upstairs, consisting of a bedroom, kitchen with dining area, living room, and bathroom. In front is a fenced garden of 160 m2, suitable for growing various herbs. The house has fully restored stone walls inside and out, newly installed plumbing and electrical wiring, aluminum windows and doors, and built-in heating and cooling.

This house combines the traditional construction of old Dalmatian houses built by families with large agricultural estates. The new owner has completely renovated it, retaining all the old elements that give the house its authentic Dalmatian charm, while enriching it with new features essential for a comfortable and modern life.
